work drugs // dirty dreams

A year ago in release; but dreamlike duo Work Drugs have prove once and for all - that you really don't need drugs to feel like you're on top of the world.

If you've ever experienced a "musical high" or the feeling of euphoria then you'll understand how fantastic this free and loosely stringed music can make you feel. And that is what Work Drugs do; produce the ultimate music high. Washing waves of synthesised beats with prominent keyboard punches; the band from Philadelphia create the ultimate summer break song.

Having slots on tour with the likes of Irish Two Door Cinema Club, Memoryhouse and Battles; even though Work Drugs was firstly a side-project; they've came further than they would've dared to imagine.

The sedative slur of the mysterious lyricists words slope over your mind - and make you want to dance, sing, run and jump into a pool of summer breezes. Having the pulsing instruments over the top of the breathy voice makes the track resemble a party at sunset on the beach; all the memories being laid out, one by one on top of one another.
Having a slight Crystal Castles-esk to them; Work Drugs' specific smooth-fi sound really gets inside of your head. The repetitive sounds and repetitive lyrics whip up a frenzy and create the feeling that something so amazing is about to happen.

Work Drugs say their music is for "dancing, boating, sexting and living". The layers of tones all compliment each other and really create the mood of thinking "fuck it" and doing something you'll probably live to regret in the morning.

The dream-pop duo post regular songs to their SoundCloud page  https://soundcloud.com/#work-drugs their most recent song to be posted entitled "Delta" speaks of trippy pop infused with smooth jazz and love.
